Wearable Device Tracks Cortisol for Personalized Wellness Insights

Last Thursday, an event titled Beyond Burnout took place, focusing on hormone imbalance and its effects on energy levels. NewBeauty headed to Flying Solo on Broome Street for the event, a happy hour and fireside chat hosted by Lume Health.
Innovative Wearable Device for Cortisol Monitoring
A key highlight was the unveiling of a prototype by Lume Health, a wearable device designed to continuously track cortisol rhythms. Unlike traditional methods that provide single readings, this device aims to monitor cortisol patterns throughout the day, offering a more full view of an individual’s stress levels.
Lume Health, co-founded by Vicki Powell, a former Apple engineer, and Dr. Jonathan Moustakis, an award-winning physician, combines hardware expertise with medical knowledge. The wearable device estimates cortisol levels from signals calibrated against saliva samples, with future iterations planned to measure cortisol directly from sweat.
Personalized Wellness Through Real-Time Data
The Lume device is not intended to replace existing wearables like the Oura Ring or Whoop but rather to complement them by tracking a key biomarker they currently overlook. It translates the collected data into practical guidance, such as optimizing morning light exposure, identifying energy peaks and dips, and strategically timing meals and workouts based on individual rhythms.

Early access users are reporting results, with Lume stating that participants saw 27 percent less time spent awake in bed after adjusting daylight exposure based on their data. Some have described the shift in energy and sleep quality as life-changing. Currently in beta development, Lume’s wearable is slated for a full release in 2027. Advancements in Hair Health and Follicle Testing
Their IFP-131 peptide formula, available in capsules and wild-berry gummies, is built to anchor and strengthen hair from within, with the brand citing clinical results of up to 47 percent less hair loss in 90 days and up to 10 percent more hairs in their growth phase by day 30.
Wide-ranging Approach to Burnout
The Beyond Burnout event, hosted at Flying Solo, addressed the issue from dual perspectives: hormonal imbalance and its physical manifestations, such as hair loss. The gathering offered a blend of scientific insights and practical solutions, equipping attendees with a deeper understanding of how to tackle burnout at its source.
